INTRODUCTION.
The Awesome Microbe Carnival is one of the biggest event to be held by the Microbiology Department from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences Universiti Putra Malaysia, co-organized with PutraELITES and MABIC (Malaysia Biotechnology Information Centre). Microbiology is a study of microscopic organisms or microorganisms. Microorganisms cannot be seen with naked eyes. As they could not be seen, thus make it difficult to describe, understand and explain their functions, roles and impact to human and the ecosystem. There are also a lot of negative perceptions of microbes are only able to cause diseases, food poisoning, dangerous and lethal.
People are mostly not aware of the important roles and impact of microbes various areas in biotechnology such as agro-biotechnology, industrial biotechnology and medical biotechnology, food and environment. In fact, these areas have more specific specialisation areas which many are not aware of. As an educational institution, we want to create public awareness on the amazing world of microbes and their applications.
This event is organised by the undergraduate Major Microbiology Year 1 to Year 4. The first semester and third semester students will be exhibiting the microbial groups and physiology. The 5th and 7th semester students will be exhibiting and selling products of microbes.
